{"id":9635,"date":"2014-04-29T13:49:34","date_gmt":"2014-04-29T12:49:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/?p=9635"},"modified":"2014-04-29T13:57:42","modified_gmt":"2014-04-29T12:57:42","slug":"4m-hand-held-microscopes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/2014\/04\/4m-hand-held-microscopes\/","title":{"rendered":"4M- Hand held microscopes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During this year it has become a <a href=\"http:\/\/internetmedicine.com\/2014\/04\/29\/low-cost-compact-optics-that-turn-a-smartphone-into-a-powerful-portable-microscope\/\">new several<\/a> hand-held microscopes based on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinterest.com\/cataitm\/telemedicine-iii\/\">mobile phones<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/internetmedicine.com\/2014\/04\/26\/matibabu-how-a-smartphone-app-and-one-engaged-team-could-fight-malaria\/\">diagnose malaria<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Hand-held-3M-microscopes.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-9636\" title=\"Hand-held 3M microscopes\" src=\"https:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Hand-held-3M-microscopes.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"613\" height=\"342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Hand-held-3M-microscopes.jpg 875w, https:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Hand-held-3M-microscopes-600x335.jpg 600w, https:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Hand-held-3M-microscopes-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 613px) 100vw, 613px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The main drawnback of those systems are the <strong>illumination<\/strong> problems,\u00a0<strong>color aberrations<\/strong> in the case of a single image (that may alter the color code on which the diagnosis is based) as well as <strong>electronic noise<\/strong> of sensors. Furthermore, for distant diagnostic purposes, the main drawnback in tele-pathology is the <strong>sampling<\/strong> problems as clearly specify in the Handbook of telemedicine regarding minimal requirements for telepathology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This is the reason why telepathology is based on whole slide (WS) scanning. The resulting image is of a huge size containing several Gigabytes which is innoperative for transmission unless we use intelligent multichannel compression algorithms that had been tested for <a href=\"https:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/2010\/03\/innovacion-en-anatomia-patologica\/\">QoI (quality of image) diagnosis<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">That was the reason why we developped in 2007 the so called <a href=\"https:\/\/catai.net\/blog\/2008\/12\/presentacion-del-sistema-texcan-ii-en-la-universidad-simon-bolivar\/\">SSVS<\/a> (small size virtual slide) capable of being handled with hand-held devices improving the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/OFRoca\/era-computer-assisted-microscopy-4m-microscopes\">resolution of the image<\/a> and illuminations problems, allowing a digital zooming ideal for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/OFRoca\/2007-ssvs-for-hand-held-microscopes\">smartphones<\/a>. Diagnostic <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.slideshare.net\/OFRoca\/2009-smal-size-virtual-slides-and-4m-microscopes\">criteria of image quality<\/a><\/strong> have been defined by us.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During this year it has become a new several hand-held microscopes based on mobile phones to diagnose malaria.
