HSD (health small data) & PGHD (patients generated health data).

New names for things that already exist and are defined and know by Health workers on IoT since years and used and exploited even by Google.

We have defined HSD (Health Small Data) in contrast with Big Data, since the term of Small Data is already used in many other fields and in fact 2014 was considered the year of the Small Data. The main concern of this HSD is that its ownership belongs to the patient or the user; it belongs to the user and is collected for his own benefit.

Now, people enter into health care with the PGHD (patient generated health data) defined as “health-related information that is created, recorded, or gathered by the patient, a family member, or a caregiver” and it is divided into 3 categories:

  • Health information recorded through a patient portal.
  • Biometric data generated by home health monitoring equipment.
  • Lifestyle information about diet and exercise.

To arrive to the conclusion that PGHD is seeking nurse informaticians that the American Sentinel University is providing “on line”. This are in fact the PHAs (personal health assistants) described in the Humanization of Healthcare project (H2O), that completely rethinck user experience with the use of new technologies. We are creating new jobs for new healthcare demands.
